SHS 10 Years on

SHS is now 10 years on, and we thought we’d give you an insight as to where we started, where we are and where we would like to be.

SHS all started just with two mates working into the night to polish up stainless steel tube they’d brought to make handrails. Working through all types of weather conditions and travelling wherever they needed to get the tools they needed to trade.

Rob and Mark began trading on popular auction site eBay in 2005 before they expanded their own website and premises. The company started off purchasing balustrade components, processed them and sold them off in their spare time whilst holding down other businesses.

“We weren’t strangers to running small businesses but we saw an opportunity to build something bigger together that we could be proud of 10, 20, 50 years down the line.”

As the workload grew both Mark and Rob committed themselves fully to SHS Products and over the years the premises along with business gradually expanded. Moving from;
• 280 sq. ft.
• 1500 sq. ft.
• 3500 sq. ft.
• 5000 sq. ft.

Marking the 10 year anniversary of SHS saw the business office and warehouse space more than double in size.

SHS Products now operates in offices and warehouse space covering 24,000 sq. ft. The move has brought several benefits to the business, especially with regards to the manufacturing of our balustrades. Over the course of 2014/2015 SHS products brought all manufacturing back to the UK, and in 2016 we will operate and distribute directly from the Aldridge warehouse.

The move also meant we could build a beautiful Display Lounge to showcase our range of systems. We at SHS warmly welcome all of our customers to come and look at our systems, and the sales team will be on hand to answer any of your questions, over a hot cup of tea or coffee… Now how can you resist!
