Currently, there is no need for planning permission to build pool fencing, but the actual pool is subject to conditions. For example, the pool cannot sit at the front of a property adjacent to a highway and the size of the pool cannot cover 50% or more of the original outdoor space. Building Regulations apply in cases where Planning Permission is required. If you are fixing the balustrade to a swimming pool decking area, please note the following:
In accordance with Building Regulations for private dwellings in England, if your decking height is up to 600mm from ground level, there is a minimum balustrade height of 900mm. If the decking height is over 600mm from ground level your balustrade will need to be a minimum height of 1100mm.
